Through the Woods to Sutri we do Go:

After a day of wind and rain the sun was shining and we were able to walk again. We walked through back country roads and paths before coming to the actual town of Caprnica.

From there we came to two Via Francigena signs: one pointing left and one pointing right. As we struggled to figure out from our GPS which one was the closest to the Via trail, along came some Italians hiking the trail that day. I said Sutri or Sutri? They answered both. They finally helped us understand one went by way of the road and one by way of the path. Ah, another divine appointment to help us on the way at just the right time.
The path with the backcountry roads totaled over 11 miles but we wouldn't have missed it. It was an old, old woods that was incredibly beautiful. I felt as if I was in an ancient forest that was untouched for generations.

We crossed about four bridges like this and I must say thanks to whoever built them for us pellegrini.

For two days we had the sun so: over the river and through the woods
to La Stella della Zie our lovely B & B.

They were the most wonderful hosts we have had yet. As soon as we arrived they invited us upstairs to join them for a lunch they were having with friends. We enthusiastically agreed because we were very hungry by this time and were treated to pasta, cheese, potatoes, wine, dessert and dessert wine. Grandmother couldn't have done better!
