Today we looked up some places to try for lunch. The one we decided on was recommended on a site about their 4 favorite enotecas and places to eat. It's name is La Prosciutterria. So off we went. When we arrived we weren't sure there was any place to sit. The walkway at the entrance was about 4 feet wide with some stools sitting along the wall. Denise brings my attention to the sign at the entrance where youy place your orders. 1. We are not a ristorante and do not have a ristorante license. 2. We can not take your order at a table or deliver your order. But, the place is packed! It's got to be good, right? It turned out to be what I would call delicious funk. Music was blaring (American Rock - which is very popular here) and people were jabbering and obviously enjoying themselves. It is a hole in the wall with charm.
You walk in to meat hanging everywhere. The porchetta was great as well as the prosciutto. The hostesses/servers/ meal makers are very cordial. We get a small platter of mixed antipastas and wine. Then we actually score a small table at the back.
The view from our table. Yes, that's all met hanging from the ceiling.
It was delicious. We ate it all but a few dark olives. I went to buy a bottle of water and the girl tells me, you can buy water if you want but here are some glasses and a tap coming out of the wall which is good water and free. You can have as much as you want. When in Rome, or Firenze, do as they do. The water was good too. I'll add another post to show some of their offerings.
