Trek - Day 2 Pont St Martin to Ivrea

This leg of the trek was both amazing and difficult. The trail took us up along the hills above the towns through one of the most memorable hikes I've been on. At points it was rocky and steep and at points we traveled through incredible vineyards, sheep fields, etc. In this first pic, Denise is passing an old building, heading into a tunnel of vines and on through a woods.

Out in the open again, under a set of vines that were loaded with grapes. No, I resisted snatching a few.

But it was certainly tempting.
Then, after passing a few sheep the trail went up against the hill where this incredible structure was built right into the existing rock face. You pass through a short tunnel that was also the entryway to the house.  It was an amazing day's journey but we were whipped at day's end. Up and down about 1000 feet is hefty for us Houston flatlanders.
